Treatment of Children with COVID-19: a Review of the Literature and Current Recommendations

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is still in full swing, and an increase in the childhood morbidity was noticed in the last two waves.. Over the past two years, significant progress has been made in our understanding of disease pathogenesis, and manyt herapeutic strategies havebeen developed, using old and well-known drugs, as well as new ones and biologicals. A number of basic and clinical research studies are still ongoing. Yet, there is no unified protocol for the treatment of COVID-19, both in adults and children. The proposed work is an attempt to systematize the treatment options for pediatric patients by summarizing applicable drugs, the irindications, doses and thecommonest side effects according to the current medical literature.
