A new Тhermodynamic Мethod for Registration and Analysis of Changes in Cerebrospinal Fluid in a Child with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia -Clinical Observation

Abstract

This clinical observation concerns the application of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) used in a child with meningeal relapse of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. A specific high-intensity endothermic peak was found in the CSF thermogram, which gradually attenuated as the neoplastic pleocytosis decreased and disappeared. It continued to be observed for a period of time after cells in the CSF were no longer demonstrable. DSC of the cerebrospinal fluid proteome is a useful and affordable method for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with diseases involving the cerebrospinal fluid. The method has not yet been validated as a routine test, but has the potential to be used in the future as a complementary diagnostic approach.
