Thrombophilia and Henoch-Schonlein Purpura in a Child – Clinical Case with Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Manifestations

Abstract

We present a case of a 16-year-old boy with an initial presentation of Henoch-Schonlein purpura and complications such as phlebothrombosis of the right leg, thrombosis of a.dorsalis pedis on the left, a large thrombus in the right ventricle, pulmonary thromboembolism and proven heterozygous carrier of the genetic mutation Factor V Leiden R506Q.

A brief literature review was made, looking at the relationship between the pathogenetic mechanisms of the diseases and the clinical experience of European medical centers, with the aim of searching for an individual approach in therapeutic behavior.

Key words: Factor V Leiden mutation, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, arterial and venous thrombosis, right ventricular thrombosis, pulmonary thromboembolism
